Rebates
Family Assist
To help families afford a Nanny the government is now offering a rebate. Most families can obtain this, although there is some form of assessment to be made about the parents/guardians to be able to claim this.
The family can claim from the “Claim for Child Care Benefit for Registered Care”, a minimum of 0.49 cents per hour the Nanny is working. The maximum rebate is $2.96 per hour. Families who are interested in claiming this rebate can log onto www.familyassist.gov.au. This site covers everything you need to know about the government subsidy.
Registration Criteria for the Child Care Rebate
Most families (not all families) will be able to claim some money back through the “Claim for Child Care Benefit for Registered Care” through the Family Assistance Office. There are some requirements for families to be able to register for this rebate. Some of the criteria are as follows:
The parents/guardians need to have passed the “About the work test”s. By filling out this form it acknowledges your eligibility requirements. You must meet the standard of hours worked, studied, looking for work etc to pass.
All children in care must meet the immunisation requirements.
You or your partner needs to meet the residency requirements.
Your children need to be in approved or registered care.
Obtained receipts throughout the year, from your registered carer, so as they can be passed on with you form to collect the rebate.
Nannies are classified as a registered carer. A Nanny is only regarded as a registered carer once they have registered with the Family Assist Office. Once they have done this and the family has met all the criteria, the family should then be able to claim the rebate. Please note that the rebate amount is dependent on how much the family income is per year. There are tables indicating how much families will be able receive on the family assist website.
To ensure all criteria is met and for more understanding about the rebate, Centenary Nannies suggests you log onto a www.familyassist.gov.au for more information.
